Louisville BE Regular Season Champs, Uconn #3 seed in New York

3/9/09

Pitt 70, Uconn 60
Uconn slows down the junkyard dog ( Blair), but has no answer for Sam Young -- the senior had 31 points and 10 boards as Pitt swept the season series with the Huskies..In doing so the Panthers denied Uconn a share of the Big East regular season title, Louisville took the crown alone with their win in Morgantown on Saturday. Husky fans who have seen enough of Pitt are going to have to regroup quickly, the two are likely to meet on Friday night in the Big East semis, can Uconn find any answers in the interim?

The Huskies, who finished the regular season 27-3 (15-3) will return to action Thursday night at approximately 9:30 in a Big East quarterfinal vs either Syracuse, Seton Hall or South Florida

Tuesday the POY and COY will be announced. Those honors will likely go to Terrence Williams and Jay Wright. Yesterday the all-league honors were unveiled:

Notes: Watched UNC/Dukes yesterday, observations-- until Duke gets some game back, Mike Patrick can cool it with calling it the best rivalry in sports, Duke is soft and for my money Pitt is better than UNC, the Heels are a legit #1 seed however...the hits just keep on coming for A-roid, out for 9 weeks ouch...nice win by Y.E. Chang yesterday at the Bear's Trap, after 2 NBC tournaments I have already had enough Johnny Miller to last me a while...I am kind of in to the WBC, I know I am the only one -- but I think its pretty interesting...TO to the Bills, HEYO, HEYO -- let's go Buffaloooooo!...Super Wanker, David Beckham, got his wish and is staying at AC Milan though the end of the season, but is excited to return to the Galaxy this July, the agreement allows him to, "continue my commitment to develop soccer in the United States, which is something I am passionate about," clearly...Congrats to Hasheem Thabeet who was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, 5 more blocks and he will pass Patrick Ewing for the most in the history of the league...
