Calhoun All-Star Game

7/26/08

Below is a list of former UConn players (from the Courant's Mike Anthony) involved in the Jim Calhoun Charity All-Star Game Aug. 9 at Mohegan Sun Arena (7:30 tipoff).

How much do the players hate Calhoun after they leave Storrs, because of how "poorly" they are treated at Uconn? Opposing fans sure like to think so, this list suggests otherwise, I guess they have gotten over the whole -- Calhoun trying to make them better thing....

Ray Allen, Rashad Anderson, Hilton Armstrong, Josh Boone, Denham Brown, Taliek Brown, Scott Burrell, Dan Cyrulik, Caron Butler, Lyman DePriest, Khalid El-Amin, Kevin Freeman, Phil Gamble, Rudy Gay, Tate George, Ben Gordon, John Gwynn, Richard Hamilton, Rudy Johnson, Rashamel Jones, Kirk King, Travis Knight, Oliver Macklin, Donyell Marshall, Ed Nelson, Emeka Okafor, Kevin Ollie, Clifford Robinson, Edmund Saunders, Rod Sellers, Chris Smith, Charlie Villanueva, Souleymane Wane, Marcus Williams, Murray Williams, Nantambu Willingham

Former assistants Dave Leitao and Howie Dickenman will serve as head coaches with Jimmy moving back and forth between benches.

Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.com

Since 1999, the Mohegan Sun / Jim Calhoun Celebrity Classic has raised more that $2.5 million for cardiology research at the UConn Health Center’s Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center.

Other random notes

1) God I hate the phuggin Phillies
2) You want to know why Wiggins really transferred from Uconn, this is what he said to Dave Borges at the New Haven Register, "I kind of felt like, being a sparkplug that I was, I felt like I didn't have enough times to show I could play at the next level." The next level? Well at least that did not come out of CK's mouth. I wish him the best, but really? the next level for a guard with a miserable jump shot. kids these days :)
